Emirates was launched in 1985. Its original livery and identity was created by Negus & Negus. The logo consists of the name "Emirates" written with Arabic calligraphic letters.

The Emirates font family is EK, which is not a commercial font. I downloaded the swf file that contains this typeface and decompiled to FLA file, the font name is "EK03plain - M02". The colour scheme used since 1985 was changed in November 1999 to Red that is still in use today.

Since its formation in 1985, though to a limited extent until all aircraft were repainted, Emirates aeroplanes carried a section of the United Arab Emirates flag on the tail fins, a calligraphy of the logo in Arabic on the engines and the "Emirates" logo on the fuselage both in Arabic and English.
