The girl in the Wendy's logo is Melinda Lou "Wendy" Morse (born Melinda Lou Thomas, September 14, 1961) is the daughter and fourth child of Wendy's restaurant chain founder Dave Thomas. As a young girl, Melinda Lou was known as "Wenda", rather than "Wendy". When her dad started a new hamburger chain in Columbus, Ohio, her name was used as the basis for the new chain's name, "Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers", and a drawing of her used as the company mascot.
As an adult, she owned several Wendy's restaurants near Dallas until 1999. After Dave Thomas died in 2002, Wendy and her siblings bought restaurants in the Columbus area; Wendy herself eventually owned 30.
The current Wendy's logo was unveiled in 1976, in which year Wendy's was officially introduced to the public. The first ever Wendy's slogan "Quality Is Our Recipe" is still shown on the logo.

Wendy's Old Fashioned Hamburgers is an international fast food chain restaurant founded by Dave Thomas on November 15, 1969, in Columbus, Ohio, United States.
Wendy's menu consists primarily of hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, French fries and beverages, including the Frosty. The company does not have a signature sandwich, such as the Big Mac or the Whopper. Instead, the square burger patties it uses in its sandwiches are the signature item. The company also advertises that its burgers are made from fresh ground beef, not frozen patties.
