The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF)

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) is an independent, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to achieve prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime by providing critical funding for innovative clinical and translational research at leading medical centers worldwide, an increasing public awareness about good breast health.

The BCRF was founded in 1993 by Evelyn H. Lauder, vice-chairman of The Estee Lauder Companies. Lauder's first foray into breast cancer awareness was through an initiative by herself and Aleandra Penney, former editor of SELF magazine, to make the pink ribbon an international symbol of breast cancer awareness.
