The Scottish Professional Football League was formed by the merger of the SPL (Scottish Premier League) and the SFL (Scottish Football League). The new SPFL master brand logo combines a lion, football and brand logotype. It builds upon the heritage and expertise of previous years but strives to deliver excellence in the future of Scottish football with passion, integrity and commitment. By using the ball from the SPL and the lion taken from the SFL logos, Glasgow agency Material has created a clear and contemporary representation of the merged bodies within the new logo, which portrays their shared vision for the future. It was unveiled in July, 2013 by SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster and former Scotland internationals John Collins and Graeme Souness.
