The Swiss clock maker Omega was created in 1848 by Louis Brandt. The idea for the name Omega was created by banker Henri Riekel, who declared the watches as the "the last stage of perfection" in line with the letter Omega, the last letter in the Greek Alphabet.
The Omega logo is the Greek symbol for perfection and this has been a value instilled in the company from its founding days.
