A trio of laughing characters in coloured circles forming the numbers 006 is the logo for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. The emblem, designed by London-based agency Whitestone, FIFA's retained UK design agency, aims to convey the message that Germany 'wants the world to have fun in 2006'. The smiling faces grouped around the World Cup trophy will be known as the Celebrating Faces of Football.
The team was under the leadership of Chris Lightfoot, managing director of Whitestone, who also directed the brand development campaign of 2002 World Cup, at InterBrand.
